보석같은 문구 아이템, 어디 없나?

보통 멍 때리는 나를 누군가 발견할 때는 내 머릿속이라는 바다 속에서 여러 가지 생각들로 허우적거리고 있는 중이라고 보면 된다. 잊고 있던 것들, 과거에 내가 왜 그랬지, 이건 어떻게 고치지, 와 이 아이디어 죽여준다 등. 이런 생각의 바다 속에서 빠져나오게 되면, 그 생각들 어딘가에다가 저장해두고 싶은데 그러지가 못해서 아쉬워하는 일이 다반사다.

그래서 기록한다. 그리고 꼼꼼한 기록을 도와줄 수 있는 문구 아이템을 발견하는 것은 내 소소한 행복.

Unearthing the Pleasures of Finding Stationery Gems

When someone catches me daydreaming, you can think of it as me struggling with various thoughts in the sea inside my head. Thoughts like things I've forgotten, why did I do that in the past, how can I fix this, and oh, this idea is killing it. When I emerge from this sea of thoughts, I often regret not being able to store those thoughts somewhere.

So, I write them down. And discovering items of language that can help with meticulous recording is my small joy.

나의 이상적인 문구상(想)

내 안에 유령처럼 맴돌고 있는 생각을 끄집어내서 어딘가에 기록으로 남길 때. 이 순간이 창작의 시작점이라고 본다. 그 시작점까지 도달할 수 있도록 도와주는 도구들이 나의 이상적인 문구상이다.

문구를 고를 때 던지는 질문 2가지:

기능적인 문구인가?
여기서 기능적이라 함은, 내 기록물을 꾸미는 것보다 기록 내용에 집중할 수 있게끔 도와주는 문구를 뜻한다.

문구의 디자인 아이덴티티가 드러나는가?
(기능성이 충족되었다는 가정 하에) 문구가 너무 기능적이기만 하면, 보는 재미가 없다. 내 기록물을 다시 찾아보게끔 하는 게 디자인의 역할 아닐까?

My Ideal Notion of Stationery

When I extract thoughts that wander within me like specters and document them somewhere, I consider this moment as the genesis of creativity. The tools aiding me in reaching this starting point are what I envision as my ideal stationery.

Two questions guide my selection of stationery:

Is it practical?
By 'practical,' I mean stationery that facilitates my focus on the content of my records rather than overshadowing them with decoration.

•

Does it have a distinct design identity?
(Assuming it meets the practicality criteria) If the stationery is excessively functional, it may lack visual appeal. Isn't the role of design to entice me into revisiting my records?
